Overview

Lead the Trustees and choir members to enable choir to fulfil its purpose as set out in the Constitution.  Ensure effective relationships between Trustees, post holders and choir members and the wider community, acting as a spokesperson and figurehead as appropriate.

Job description

  • Plan and prepare Trustee and committee meetings and the AGM with others as appropriate.
  • Chair meetings of Trustees and Committee, ensuring:
    1. A balance is struck between time-keeping and space for discussions
    2. Business is dealt with and decisions made
    3. Decisions, actions and deliberations are adequately minuted
    4. The implementation of decisions is clearly assigned and monitored
  • Ensure adequate support is given to post holders
  • Liaise with MD about relevant issues, including music repertoire, concert venue and requirements and future term and concert dates.
  • Attend concert venue site visits with MD, stage manager and/or others as necessary
  • Maintain contact with all post holders on a regular basis
  • Act as primary contact with Charities Commission
  • Represent EGCS and act as figurehead for example welcoming VIP guests and professional musicians on arrival at events.

  • Possessing tact, diplomacy and powers of persuasion
  • Possessing relevant skills to run a meeting effectively
