East Grinstead Choral Society was founded in 1952 and is one of the best established choral groups in the area, offering workshops and vocal coaching opportunities to members. Its first ever rehearsal was on 10th October 1952 in Imberhorne Lower school, with the first concert being performed later in the year. In a busy Golden Jubilee season they took part in the 2003 Mid Sussex Music and Arts Festival and hosted a visit by the Coral Cypsella Del Centre Excursionasta Montclar and Chamber Music Orchestra of St Feliu, Spain.

The society is affiliated to the East Grinstead Adult Education centre and with Making Music. Financial support has been received from the Town Council and SouthEast Arts. The society has an active social programme, including concert tours to Europe. It is planned to visit another twin town, Mindelheim, in Autumn 2004.
